Classes

My new studio is up and running! I have four torch stations to accommodate everything from private lessons up to eight students. Please contact me if you're interested in signing up for a class or lesson. For private lessons, I can cater to your desires within the realm of borosilicate glass working otherwise known as torch-work, lamp-work or flame-work.

I am also teaching two classes at Minnesota Art Centers this spring. Click on the links below to see more information and to register.

The first class will be held at the
Milan Village Art School on Saturday, April 3, 2010.

The second class will be held at The Grand Marais Art Colony on May 29 & 30, 2010.

Below is a basic overview of my intro class.

Itroduction to Lampworking (Glassblowing) with Dan Neff

Lampworking is a form of glassblowing utilizing a torch to melt the glass. This class is designed for those who are curious about lampworking. The class will focus on borosilicate glass, which has a higher melting point than regular window glass. Students will learn a brief history of glassblowing, safety issues, tool and equipment use and beginner techniques that will allow students to leave the class with small projects such as beads, icicles and marbles. Highly detailed demonstrations and explanations will be given as well as individual attention to troubleshooting. Glassblowing has remained secretive for centuries. This is your chance to experience first hand the art of glassblowing.
